BSPH Master's programs in Public Health and Epidemiology
Public Health is offered at the BSPH as a consecutive master's program.
Coursework focuses on factors that influence the health of populations. These include the health system and health policies, healthcare funding, health services research, social conditions, health risk factors and the health behaviour of populations. In addition, students acquire competencies in epidemiology, biostatistics and in the methods of empirical social research. Please note: the executive Master of Public Health program no longer admits students.
Language of instruction: German and English
Epidemiology is offered via the BSPH plattform in a post-graduate (continuing education) format.
Coursework focuses on the distribution of health and disease in population groups, as well as on the factors influencing this distribution. Epidemiology brings together methods and findings from medicine, statistics, social and natural sciences and deals with the planning, implementation and evaluation of epidemiologic research studies. The Master of Science in Epidemiology (MScEPi) is provided by the Institute of Public Health. The Master of Science in Applied Epidemiology (MSAE) is provided by the Robert Koch Institute.
Language of instruction: English
Intensive Short Courses
The Intensive Short Courses (ISC) provide compact knowledge and methodological skills in public health and epidemiology through short, one week courses. The ISCs are part of the post-graduate master’s programs and provide an opportunity for students and professionals locally and from abroad to learn together. IScs are taught by visiting lecturers from renowned universities and research institutions.
Language of instruction: English
Master's Thesis at the BSPH
In the master's thesis, students apply the knowledge acquired in the course of study and demonstrate their ability to do scientific research independently. The research project provides students with an opportunity to develop theoretical and practical knowledge in a public health specialty of their choice. We greatly appreciate and welcome topics for students to research from the public health work field.
Doctorates in Public Health
A doctorate demonstrates a student's ability to do in-depth scientific work and research. As part of the doctorate, a peer reviewed original research project must be completed.
